PostHeaderIcon Kinross Clean Up day – Sunday 29th Jan

From 9am at Kinross Forest car park.

To help look after our local trails and forest the club is having a clean up day to remove some of the rubbish that has been dumped at Kinross Forest.  It’s been a while since our last clean up day so there has been a fair bit accumulated out there.

What to bring:

  1. Gloves
  2. Utes/trailers
  3. Tough bags
  4. Sturdy shoes and clothing
  5. Bring out your bike in case you’re keen for a ride afterwards.

There may do a little touch up on the trails too but we’ll be mostly cleaning up.

On a related note there has been activity to impose fines on the anyone caught dumping at the forest.  If you see someone dumping rubbish then report it to the club and we can forward it on to the correct people to chase it up.  Hopefully the message will get through that dumping rubbish in our forest (or anywhere) is not on.

There’s only 3 weeks to smackdown, how ninja are you? Have you been grooming your skills or stretching the silly season?

Entries are rolling in thick and fast so if you have a mate that’s looking to enter then they had better hurry.

The Track

The track maintenance we wanted to do is finished and it’s riding really well, there’s plenty of variety there for everyone. Kinross forest is open 24/7 so if you fancy a pedal then follow the link below for a map of the course.

PostHeaderIcon Kinross inter club poker ride – Sunday Jan 22nd

We have teamed with the Central Tablelands MTB club (Lithgow) to put on an inter club ride, its not a race but a ride with a prize.

It’s a simple format with more then a little chance of rewarding those who enjoy a bit of bush bashing.

Poker?

  • Every rider starts with 2 playing cards, drawn randomly from a deck, then at the completion of each lap you can pick another card.
  • There’s a 90min window to ride and you can do as many or as few laps as you want (or is possible) to get ‘the best poker hand’.
  • Darryl Grant Cycles is once again giving away the goodies and I’m fairly sure it will be a good little prize purse.
  • Of course we will also give away a prize to the rider who completes the most laps in the shortest time (90mins+) but this is about participation not speed or endurance.
Racing on 'TTT'

Other details:
A lap will consist of the Ginja Ninja 250 course therefore taking 30mins +/- about 10mins a lap.
Sign on on the day, rego opens at 9:30, race starts at 10am. $10 for Seniors, $5 for Juniors. (+ day licence for non-members, become a member now)
BBQ sausage sizzle afterwards.

Encourage your friends and foes to come along, should be a good day out.

In return Lithgow will host a simialr race in Feb (date to be confirmed) around the fun tracks at Rydal.

Scott on the 'North Shore' track

Scott on the 'North Shore' track.

We are going to have a crack at fixing up some parts of the ‘North Shore’ track this Sunday (8/1/2012).  Sorry for the late notice but any help would be appreciated.

The north shore is green on this map heading east up from the car park.  Just come along the trail till you find us.

Similar to our previous trail maintenance days we will be there from 8-1pm then have a BBQ.  Come for the whole time or just a part of it.

Also there’s a social ride afterwards if there’s any energy left.

For a list of what to bring have a look at the list here for the first working day.

PostHeaderIcon Kinross Trail Maintenance Day

Sunday 6th of November 8am-13:30pm.  (If you can’t make the whole time then just come for what you can and find us on the trail.)

BBQ at 13:30 then a social ride if there’s any energy left.

To make sure the Kinross Trails are in schmick condition before the ninjas arrive for 250 minutes of fun we want to spruce them up a bit.  We are keen for anyone to come out and give us a hand.

Our first priority is to resurrect the “TTT” trail close to the car park (marked as a red trail on the map here, close the car park and Owen’s rest).   This was originally designed to be a tough track but we are working on making it easier (and fun for all levels) since it’s close to the car park, was in a poor state and will make a good addition to the ginja ninja 250 loop.

What to bring:

  1. Tools – the best are pick/mattock/fire rake/rake.  Shovels may be handy too.  If you don’t have any then there will be some to borrow.
  2. Gardening gloves
  3. Safety glasses
  4. Water + morning tea
  5. Old convict railway work gang songs
  6. Bike + stuff for a ride afterwards

Directions to start of TTT from car park:

  1. Head north on the fire road leaving the car park.
  2. After about 50m turn right up the over grown fire road just after the road heads uphill.  This is the trail where Owen’s Rest exits.
  3. Follow the over grown fire road up until there is a sharp right turn. There’s a gully on the left heading up into the trees.
  4. You’ll see the “TTT” start on the left of the gully a short way in.
