Some updated info can be found here:

CWORBC are announcing a great new mountain bike XC event for early 2012 (Feb 5th 2012).

The Ginja Ninja 250 will be 250 minutes of racing on the great tracks of Kinross Forest only 6km from the centre of the beautiful metropolis of Orange NSW.

How Ninja Are You?

Contending ninjas will compete in the classic MTB enduro format. This means striving to complete as many laps as possible in 4 hours and 10 mins around a course designed to be fun for everyone from beginner ninjlets to wise and experienced ninjas.  If you enter as a pair you compete as a relay so only 1 of you is on the course at a time.

The focus is on fun and there will be a healthy prize pool showered on everyone, not only on the place getters.

What: Ginja Ninja 250 (mins)

When: 5/2/2012

How long: 250 mins (4 hours 10 mins)

Time: 10am

Where: Kinross Forest near Orange NSW.  There’s a map here.

Event Type: Multi Lap for 250 mins.

Categories: Solos and pairs. Male and female, mixed pairs.

Entry Fees: $30 for Solos and $25 each rider in a pair (+$20 MTBA day license for non-MTBA members).  It will be $5 per person extra if you miss the online entry deadline.  If not sold out then online entries close at midnight on Thursday 2nd Feb so don’t leave it too late to enter!

Entry: The race is over so entries are obviously closed.

Course: The course is about 7-8 km long and at least 80% single track.  The pine forest is densely planted so will provide plenty of shade in February.  Here is a rough google maps path of the course.  You can also get a printer friendly pdf of the course here (includes an elevation profile).

Here’s a recent video on Vimeo of the last downhill of the lap, the ‘North Shore’ track.

FAQ

  1. An enduro in February in Australia?! Won’t it be stinking hot?  Orange is known for it’s temperate climate.  It is often about 10 degrees cooler than Sydney and is much less humid.  Also the pine’s are quite dense so there is plenty of shade while riding.  It may be hot but it won’t be stinking hot.
  2. When will entries open? Entries are closed, the race is over.
  3. Why Ginja Ninja? Why not?  We liked it so we stole the idea from the BMXers in our club.
  4. Can I buy a club jersey? Yes! – Though it’s too late now to order it in time to get it at the race.
  5. Is there a flyer I can print out and display at my workplace/bike shop/community notice board to spread the word? Yes!
  6. How can I find another rider to be my team mate? You could try our forum discussion (Ginja Ninja 250 forum discussion.).  Or maybe a forum on another website where people are talking about the race.
  7. Where else are people talking about the Ginja Ninja 250?  I’m sure this list is not complete: Rotorburn. The Berm. Enduro Pulse.
  8. That’s all for now.  I’m sure there will be more before the big day…
